Manduva means courtyard in Telugu. Which is where the founders imagined women to be making lovely pickles, using homegrown ingredients. With the aim to revive and modernise traditional, nostalgic recipes from the Telugu states, the products range from pickles to spices, that are so versatile, they can be used in different styles of cooking, across the world.
For a brand with this kind of vision , we knew the nativity had to be enhanced, solely from an emotional perspective, to trigger nostalgia. Inspired by the language, the logo is in Telugu script, supported by Manduva written in English. The form is also inspired by the architecture of courtyard houses in South India. As an ode to the women who make the products, a mascot of a lady was developed for use in brand extension. While the logo, fonts and colours had a strong Indian influence, the treatment had to be modern to highlight the versatility of the products.
Unfortunately, this project was discontinued.
